Giving Back to our Future Leaders and Innovators at FIT

RPG at the Fashion institute of Technology It was a great pleasure for me to join Dr. Brooke Carlson, Assistant Professor FIT/Founder Beauty Strategies Consulting as a guest lecturer on October 2nd in her Commerce Management class. The course is part of the Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing and Management Masters Degree Program.

The content of the lecture focused on how to manage the brand message at the point of sale. The presentation included an overview of the steps to building a successful merchandising program, how to establish brand visual language and how to set merchandising guidelines. The newly opened Birchbox flagship retail store on West Broadway was the case study. It was an excellent example of a brand message that is consistently executed through all channels of distribution.

The class was made up of a talented group of executives representing all disciplines in the cosmetic and fragrance industry. The class ended with a quick assignment is which the students were given three different types of peanut snacks and presented their merchandising strategies.

I look forward to the 2015 Capstone as this class is destined to do great things in the near future.
